Clean Food
The importance of clean seed for the health of your pet bird can never be overstated.

Fact File.

1. Fresh, clean food is the starting point for health.
2. The protection of the food from contamination during storage is the next important step.
3. Spoiled seed is the most common cause of illness in the pet bird.
4. It is impossible to cure an illness with medicines when "bad feed" continues to be fed.
5. Food cleansers are used to keep the food in storage fresh and clean by protecting it from mould, yeast and other harmful agents.

Culture tested food is the best option for your pet bird.

Culture Tested Seed

Culture tested seed means that every grain type is tested for moisture, fungus, yeast and bacteria before it is accepted into our seed mixes. These seed mixes are used for convalescing patients at our hospital as part of the recovery plan. We have found that most of these recovered patients prefer our seed, because of its fresh and clean taste. In human terms it is akin to the taste of a home grown tomato versus the bland supermarket variety. No wonder they prefer our fresh seed. The freshness also equates to healthiest. The seed is available by post or at the hospital in kilogram packs and five Kilogram economy packs. Our insecticide free seed is best stored in the refrigerator to prevent weevil and moth outbreaks.

Food Cleanser
This is a new generation, slow-release food cleanser that protects all grades of seed for three months.

The Food Cleanser has been developed to protect the freshness and quality of bird seed from mould contamination irrespective of the storage conditions. This palatable, controlled release food cleanser is not an excuse for poor quality seed, because there is no cure for seed already contaminated with fungal toxins.

It is the most advanced mould inhibitor on the market and its controlled release protects the seed for three months without affecting its palatability. Its activity is not affected by the nature of the feed being treated and the recommended doses protect grain with extremely high moisture contents (greater than 17%).

Dosage & Instructions
Mix it at the rate of 1 gram (1 level green spoon) into 1 kilogram of seed as it is placed into a Tupperware storage container. Store the food in the fridge to prevent weevils in summer.

Clean Water
Water cleansers are the best means of keeping the water clean and containers sludge-free.

1. Clean water is critical for good health.
2. Without clean water, the battle against illness is already lost.
3. The water dish is the perfect place from which illnesses spreads. The sludge accumulating in the edges and corners of the drinkers is a particularly potent source of dangerous germs.

Water Cleanser

Safe but strong water cleansers such as that available directly from Dr Marshall help keep the water clean and free of harmful germs. Dr Marshalls's water cleanser "self-cleans" the drinkers, removing all traces of sludge automatically.

1. It self cleans the water containers leaving them sparkling clean of the sludge that accumulates in the corners.

Clean Cage

Cleanliness is the first and most important step in protecting the health of the pet bird.

The underlying aim is to keep the germ count in the cage, water and food low, because even the most vital and naturally resistant bird succumbs to illness when it is exposed to a foreign germ or an overwhelming number of germs.

The Energy And Protein Requirements
The food given to the pet bird must be high in energy and balanced in protein.

Fact File:

1. A moulting pet bird requires much more energy than the normal bird.
2. Young birds need up to three times the energy of an adult to remain healthy.
3. More than anything else, a constant supply of energy is needed for continuing health.
4. Turbobooster and F-vite are used to maximise the energy and balance the protein in the diet. These proven products will improve the health and vitality of every pet bird.

Turbobooster
The natural health, body and feather conditioner with garlic.

Dose: 6 drops per 100grams of seed.

Turbo-booster is a garlic enriched, high energy, amino acid, essential oil and vitamin supplement. The Turbobooster is mixed and absorbed by the seed and then ingested by the bird during the eating process. It may take a few days for the birds to accept the new taste of the oil.

The Mineral and Grit requirements

Facts:

1. Minerals are the most misunderstood part of bird nutrition and health.
2. Grit is a poor source of minerals.
3. The main function of grit is as digestive stone to help grind the seed in the gizzard.
4. Wet grit is particularly harmful to birds.
5. The bird requires many different minerals that are best provided in a powdered form.
6. Excessive chewing of cages and branches is a common sign of a mineral deficiency.
7. Heavy metal poisoning is a common sequel to a mineral deficiency.

F-vite
A sterile grit, vitamin and mineral powder.

Completely replaces grit and cuttlefish.

I have developed F-vite to replace grit and cuttlebone completely. It is a highly concentrated form of minerals and trace elements to be used all year round. At first, it is best to mix F-vite with the seed until the birds accept its pleasant taste. After this time, F-vite is placed in a small dish and made fresh once a week.

The Benefits:

• A sterile form of minerals. Unclean, moist grit is responsible for most of the vomiting illnesses I see in pet birds.
• A source of clay that acts as natural bowel cleanser and astringent. It prevents stomach aches.

Vitamins and Trace Elements

Facts:

1. Vitamins are an essential part of good health.
2. Seed is a very poor source of vitamins for birds.
3. Vegetables are a good source of vitamins for birds.
4. Trace elements are required in very small amounts. Wild birds usually get their trace elements from the soil.
5. Seeds do not provide the bird with trace elements.
6. The pet bird must get its vitamins and trace elements to remain healthy and are best given in the water.
7. The benefits of vitamins and trace elements to the pet bird are enormous.

Ioford NF

A reliable source of trace elements, Ioford NF is rich in iodine, calcium and iron. It improves the overall vitality of the bird and provides heightened strength and lustre to the feathers.

Dose: 10 drops per 100ml of water.

The Ioford NF is used to energise, stimulate health and to promote a rapid and complete moult. It contains iodine, iron, calcium, zinc, magnesium and vitamin D. It is mixed with Dufoplus on Saturdays and Sundays.

• Invigorate the bird to whistle and talk.
• Intensify the white and black colours of the feathers.
• Promote a rapid and complete moult.
• Prevent moult related illnesses. Remember that most illnesses of pet birds occur during the moult.

Dufoplus is the best and most potent water soluble vitamin (A, D, E, and B Complex) available and is free of any sugar or glucose. It is mixed with Ioford on Saturdays and Sundays.
