Nail Clipping
Although the cat sharpens and files its claws by scratching trees outside or "scratching poles" inside, it may still be necessary to clip the nails each 6-8 weeks. A high-quality "cat claw clipper" is used from the early age of 6-8 weeks, taking special care not to cut the quick. We can instruct you how to cut the claws during the next vaccination consult.

Dental Care
It is very important to look after the health of your cat's teeth and gums. Cats gave 26 deciduous (baby) teeth, which are replaced between 3-6 months of age with a full set of 30 permanent teeth. Just as with humans, plaque can build up on your cat's teeth leading to problems such as gingivitis and periodontal disease.

Some cats are particularly prone to a build up of tartar and dental problems, and many cats need to have their teeth thoroughly cleaned and scaled by a veterinarian once or twice a year. Regular feeding of raw bones or rawhide can help prevent plaque and tartar building up on your cat's teeth. There are also some dry foods that are designed to clean the teeth, and special toothbrushes and toothpaste are available for cats as well.
