Party Pets

Bringing a taste of the country into the heart of the city... Carlingford Animal Hospital is pleased to present the Old Kentucky Mobile Animal Farm.

Farmer Tas grew up in regional NSW helping her parents with traditional farming duties like hand milking the house cow, rounding up the cattle, training the working dogs and drenching the sheep on their rural property. Riding horses and trick training her pets - the cattle and sheep - were her passions. As part of the Old Kentucky Mobile Animal Farm venture, Farmer Tas now provides interactive educational sessions at agricultural shows, fetes and fairs. Children and adults alike who have not previously had an opportunity to experience a day on the farm are encouraged to participate in handfeeding and petting tame farm yard pets.

Sharing the same philosophy as Carlingford Animal Hospital, Old Kentucky Mobile Animal Farm has a strong interest in the conservation and the preservation of rare breeds of poultry, pigeons and livestock species.

In conjunction with Carlingford Animal Hospital, Old Kentucky Mobile Animal Farm proudly supports the Rare Breeds Trust of Australia actively promoting heritage livestock species that are currently under threat of extinction. Such species include the traditional Hereford, Aberdeen Angus and Galloway cattle breeds, South Dorset Down sheep, Polish and Transylvanian Naked-Neck chicken species and Crested ducks just to name a few. You can now have the privilege to see many of these breeds at Carlingford Animal Hospital. Old Kentucky Mobile Animal Farm also holds memberships with the Australasian Llama Association, Australian Galloway Association, NSW Donkey Society and the Fell Pony Society of the UK. The emphasis at Old Kentucky Mobile Animal Farm is on having fun with captive farm animals, particularly the traditional Australian livestock breeds, who are kept as pets. Old Kentucky Mobile Animal Farm is available for hire, and offers fantastic one and a half hour birthday party packages that are tailored to children of all ages.

Old Kentucky Mobile Animal Farm also participates actively within the local community, undertaking pet therapy and reminiscence programs in aged care settings and disability sectors and attending open days at childcare centres.

Old Kentucky Mobile Animal Farm also offers highly trained animals for advertising, film and television work as well as for corporate events such as grand openings, book launches and art exhibitions. Carlingford Animal Hospital and Old Kentucky Mobile Animal Farm share a vision that pet ownership and interaction with domestic farm animals provides significant human health benefits. We recognise the increased quality of life and the long term therapeutic companionship that such interactions afford our clients, be they owners of dogs, cats or birds. As part of this philosophy we would like to welcome you next time you are passing by Carlingford Animal Hospital to stop in and meet our farmyard pets too. Why not lead a llama, pat a piglet, bring your lunch and picnic with our paccies, rest with our rabbits, chat with a chook and delight in our ducklings.

Take a photographic tour of our state of the art clinic.
